125th Anniversary a COVID Washout, but we plan to go virtual…..

We had huge plans for our 125th Anniversary, this included a full weekend of events including a day promoting ‘Bowls for all’, an invite event of bowlers from all over the UK and an evening of fun bowls, the following day was our much awaited Andy Dixon Memorial Pairs Event. Unfortunately all has been postponed until it is safe to do so and COVID restrictions are relaxed signiicantly.

Its not all bad news though. We are working with Arcus who work with people in the LBGT+ community and mental health, Dementia Friends, More in Common Darlington and with Councillor Sajna Ali and still hope to put on a virtual event. This may include but not be limited to inclusion training, safeguarding and a question & answer session offered for all local bowlers.

We believe it is important that bowls becomes limitless and that people from all backgrounds can be involved and feel comfortable in doing so.

The clubs birthday is 11th March 2021 so we now are preparing instead to hold Birthday Zoom Virtual Celebrations, this includes a Soul Night with DJ Tomma, a quiz, raffle and our Presentation of 2020 trophies. Theres even a quick education session of our club history and a ‘live’ youtube video of The Temptations.

None of this was how we wanted to celebrate this year but these are still expected to make a big impact in our year for our club and the next 125 years.
